Promoting interactions between the generations is a priority for the Topsfield COA. Programs and events have been developed to increase multi-generational experiences:
Senior citizens are paired with children to encourage friendships between the generations. This program is being developed and will expand when we settle into our permanent home inside Town Hall.
Homemade valentines are exchanged between students and seniors. Volunteers assist with Valentine distribution to home-bound elders in the community.
This Senior Citizen Appreciation Dinner is sponsored by the Student Council at Masconomet High School each March. Students provide dinner, entertainment, and gifts to show their appreciation for senior citizens in the Tri-Town communities.
Each September, which is Intergenerational Month, the Topsfield COA partners with theArtRoom to bring great/grandparents together with their great/grandchildren to produce wonderful masterpieces in a relaxed and inspiring setting in downtown Topsfield.
Back to Campus Trips
We enjoy heading onto the local college and university campuses to share the experiences of 17-23 year olds. Exploring campuses in and around Boston by touring, attending events, engaging in activities, and more has proven to be a wonderful way to connect with another generation.
