New Faces of Topsfield Public Safety

Topsfield welcomes 6 new members to it's Police and Fire Departments.

Topsfield Fire Filled two vacancies as Captain Conor Brown left to be a firefighter for the City of Cambridge and FF Warnock left to be a firefighter with his brother and father in Middleton. 

  • Nicole Phipps grew up in Topsfield, worked as an EMT at a private ambulance company, and has been a call firefighter for Topsfield since June 2023.  She graduated from the Fire Academy last week and will be attending paramedic school in September.  She starts work the first week in April as a full-time firefighter.
  • Madelyn Pitcairn grew up in Ipswich on the Topsfield line. She is a call firefighter EMT for Boxford Fire and an Emergency Dispatcher for Boxford.  She has been a call firefighter for Topsfield since September 2023 and will be attending paramedic school in May.
  • John Brophy is a resident of Topsfield.  He is a full-time firefighter holding the rank of Captain in the city of Peabody.  He is also a paramedic for Lawrence General Hospital.  He will be a call firefighter to help us with calls and shifts that are open.  We are grateful for his membership as he comes with a significant amount of experience.

Topsfield Police Department has also made three appointments over the last month:

  • Appointment of Officer Matthew Ziev – Officer Ziev comes to the Town of Topsfield with nineteen (19) years of experience.  Officer Ziev started his career as a Criminal Information Analyst for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry.  Officer Ziev then worked as an On-Call Patrolman for the Merrimack College Police and a Reserve Police Officer for the Rowley Police Department.  In 2007, Officer Ziev was promoted to a full-time police officer in Rowley and was later promoted to the position of Detective, of the Criminal Investigation Division and then to the position of Sergeant. Officer Ziev has a master’s degree in criminal justice.
  •  Appointment of Officer Sean Wlasuk – Officer Wlasuk started his law enforcement career as a Kensington NH Police Officer where he worked for 4 ½ years.  Officer Wlasuk then transferred to the Lynn, MA Police department where he has worked for the last three (3) years. Officer Wlasuk has a BA in Criminology and was a four-year varsity starter in football for Framingham State University.   
  • Appointment of Officer Robert Adams – Officer Adams started his law enforcement career as a part-time police officer for the Rowley Police Department.  In 2014, Officer Adams was promoted to the position as a full-time police officer and was later promoted to the position of Detective in 2017.  Officer Adams specializes in Cyber-Crimes and Digital Forensics Examiner.  Officer Adams currently works full-time as a Network Intrusion Forensic Analyst for the United States Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security.
