Topsfield Candidates’ Night

Event Date:
Tuesday, April 9, 2024 - 7:00pm

The League of Women Voters of the North Shore (Topsfield-Boxford-Middleton) is sponsoring a Topsfield Candidates’ Night on Tuesday, April 9, at 7:00 PM, in person at Topsfield Town Hall. This forum provides an opportunity for the voters to meet the candidates before the Town election.

Participants are asked to arrive at Town Hall, Meeting Room no later than 6:45 PM so the program can begin promptly at 7:00 PM. We anticipate the program will conclude around 8:30 PM. It will be videotaped and rebroadcast several times before the election.

The League invites you to present your views and qualifications. Each candidate in a contested race will be seated on a panel,  introduced and then answer questions posed by the moderator from written submitted questions from the audience. You are welcome to submit one or two questions beforehand. We cannot guarantee that we will use any particular question but questions will be directed to all candidates for a particular office.  We are asking all candidates to limit each of their answers to one minute and opening and closing statements to one minute.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that does not support or oppose any candidate for elective office. In order to provide a non-partisan, neutral atmosphere, we request that no campaign materials be handed out, posted or placed in the Meeting Room. Candidates and their supporters are not precluded from handing out campaign materials outside of the meeting room.  The League is very pleased to offer this service to the candidates and the voters. We hope you will be able to participate. Any candidate who cannot be present can arrange to have a supporter read a one-minute statement.
