Email Chief Collins-Brown

Chief Jen Collins-Brown became the first female chief of the department in July 2017. She began with the Topsfield Fire Department in 1987 as a call-firefighter and EMT. She worked her way up the ranks, becoming a lieutenant in 1994 and then captain in 2002.

Chief Collins-Brown’s appointment makes her the fourth female fire chief in the state and the first in Essex County.

During her time as a captain, she also served as the department’s EMS Coordinator, where she planned and implemented all EMS training for the department and attended local and regional meetings to stay up-to-date on practices and policies.

As Topsfield’s fire chief, Collins-Brown supervises, coordinates, and directs all operations with the fire department and is the Emergency Management Director for the town, responsible for the Topsfield Emergency Management Agency.

The Topsfield Fire and Rescue Department Department is a full service agency, providing rescue, fire suppression, code enforcement, hazardous materials response, and advanced live support.
