June 18 & June 20 - Topsfield Recognizes Juneteenth

Join the Topsfield Cultural Council and community members in recognizing several events planned from June 18th through June 20th for the 2024 Juneteenth holiday.

June 18  

  • 10:30 am - Children’s Storytime at the Town Common Gazebo Live Book Read: “Juneteenth for Mazie” by Floyd Cooper. Guest Reader: Bill Hodges, Masco School Committee 

  • 3:30 pm - Flag Raising Ceremony at the Town Common Gazebo - Come join your neighbors and family to celebrate in honor of Juneteenth.  Refreshments and conversation.

  • 4:00 pm - “Nothing But Freedom: Life After Slavery” - Join Jeanne Pickering, on the 2nd floor of Topsfield Town Hall, as she looks at slavery and emancipation in Topsfield and the Tri-Town area.

  • 5:00 pm - Book Discussion of “Black Cake: A Novel” by Charmaine Wilkerson, on the 2nd floor of Topsfield Town Hall. Copies of “Black Cake: A Novel” are now available for checkout or reserve at the Topsfield Town Library.

June 20    

  • 6:00 pm - Meg Black Presents: African American Art After Emancipation (Gould Barn).
