The Town of Topsfield, along with keynote speaker Secretary Michael Kennealy from the Department of Housing and Economic Development, will host a Business Showcase (the “Showcase”) on June 7, 2022. The purpose of the Showcase is to provide a forum for existing and potential business owners to learn about opportunities in the Town of Topsfield and about what it is like to do business here. The Showcase will highlight Topsfield’s culture and strengths, current retail and agricultural businesses, and recreational opportunities within Topsfield. The Town will invite developers, retail and restaurant establishments, and brokers, among others, to attend the Showcase, which will include presentation, lunch and a tour of the town. Available retail vacancies will be discussed, as well as traffic patterns through town and on major adjacent roads (95, 97, Rt 1).

This survey will be used to inform the Business Showcase in the following ways:
1. Provide data to help define the market opportunity
2. Provide Community members with an opportunity to have a voice

This effort is a continuation of the work that began in the summer of 2019 with the formation of the Downtown Revitalization Strategic Planning Working Group and has more recently been pursued by the Select Board and the Economic and Community Development Committee. For those who participated in the Town Visioning Session in Fall 2019, many of these questions may seem familiar and duplicative. However, the habits and life/work patterns of many of our community members have shifted since that time. We feel it is important to try to identify how those habits have changed and whether any changes might impact the market opportunity for businesses in town.
