Sheryl Knutsen Named Topsfield Board of Health Chair in July, 2015 - Sheryl Knutsen MSN, RN, PHCNS-BC, a resident of Topsfield since 1978, has served on the Board of Health since 2003. Ms. Knutsen is a Registered Nurse and is certified by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) as a Public/Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Ms. Knutsen has served in multiple Public Health related functions including the following:
- Public Health Emergency Preparedness Planner for twenty-nine communities including Topsfield.
- MassPro for six years, facilitating the Massachusetts Adult Immunization Coalition, organizing an annual statewide adult immunization conference, managing a program providing Medicare Advantage Health Plan reimbursement to local boards of health and community agencies for the administration of influenza and pneumococcal immunizations, managing a statewide flu clinic locator website, and coordinating statewide training programs on employee influenza vaccination.
- Public Health Nurse for the cities of Groveland, Gloucester and Newburyport.
- School Nurse for the City of Gloucester and Masconomet / Tri-Town Schools.
- In 2015, selected as a Fellow by the Local Public Health Institute of Massachusetts for demonstrated mastery of Public Health Practice; a committment to professional development; and a willingness to act as a steward for public health practice oin Massachusetts.
