Internship Program

Each summer, the Topsfield Board of Health welcomes college Interns to the Department. Interns are given the opportunity to shadow Health Agent John Coulon RS to learn about all aspects of Public Health while also concentrating on a project of their choosing.

Interns and their Projects:

2016 NEHA Intern Hayley Byra- Junior at UMass/Lowell – individual project researching and developing online tool to gather information on septic systems in Topsfield for public access.

2016 MDPH Intern Caitlin Pohl – MPH Candidate at Tufts University – individual project to identify all properties in Topsfield using private wells. Developed a brochure on well water and testing unique to Topsfield.

2015 MDPH Intern Alexander Moreta – MDPH Candidate at Boston University School of Public Health. Worked with TBOH Chair and Region 3 Coordinator Sheryl Knutsen RN on Emergency Preparedness Communication – A Focus on the Elderly Population

2014 MDPH Intern Natalie Miller – MDPH Candidate at Boston University School of Public Health –Emergency Preparedness including Inventory of MRC Emergency Trailer

2011, 2012 and 2013 Intern Heather Darrah – Freshman through Junior years at Trine University – attended Department of Homeland Security/FEMA Course: 32 Hours Technical Emergency Response Training for CBRNE Incidents, Anniston, Alabama
