The Sealer of Weights and Measures is appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The duties of the Sealer of Weights and Measures consist of the following:
- maintaining the Town's testing equipment in usable condition, which includes taking some to the Massachusetts Division of Standards Lab to be certified and documented for accuracy;
- enforcing the State requirements for weights and measuring devices, including type evaluation and accuracy of all scales, pumps, and linear measurements that are used to determine the price of a comodity; and
- turning over to the Town all fees collected for services and keeping records of all inspections.
