Description:

The Board of Road Commissioners oversees the operation of the Highway Department and appoints the Highway Superintendent. The Town of Topsfield has nearly 60 miles of roadways, 25 miles of sidewalks and bike paths, and countless miles of drainage swales and culverts. It is the responsibility of the Highway Department to monitor and maintain this infrastructure on an annual basis. The Superintendent is responsible for directing the maintenance of town roads and sidewalks, including paving, signage, painting traffic lines, and plowing and sanding in the winter, arranging for tree work and brush cutting, and cleaning the drainage system.

The Board of Road Commissioners is active in securing State and Federal funds to augment local resources for the rebuilding or repair of Topsfield’s infrastructure.

Regular Meetings:

  • Third Friday of every month at 7:30 A.M. at the DPW facility.
